Helping Youth Discover New Skills & New Technologies
Young people are not just our workforce of tomorrow; they are our future leaders, innovators, and creators, and ITAG believes that all young people should have the opportunity to explore a variety of careers so that they can make informed choices.
That’s why ITAG holds a series of programs dedicated to helping local youth explore tech-related careers, meet mentors, and develop business-critical skills. Programs like:
- Girls Exploring Tomorrow’s Technology – a free, day-long conference where hundreds of girls and over 60 local companies gather to showcase exciting STEM careers and hands-on activities.
- Summer Career Academies – where students explore in-demand careers, boost their college applications, and develop long-lasting friendships.
- Techies Day – a series of company site-visits for students to learn about dynamic regional organizations, the technology that drives those organizations, and the people that drive the technology
ITAG’s youth activities are supported by a volunteer committee with funding from private and public partners. To get involved or find more information about our youth programs, check out www.STEMinnovationPA.org.
GETT
Girls Exploring Tomorrow’s Technology (GETT) is an annual event for girls in grades 5-10 and their parents to learn about career opportunities in a broad scope of STEM related industries. The day is filled with exciting, enlightening and experiential activities led by successful women in STEM fields. This year GETT has been re-engineered into a 20th anniversary video series including a weekly video or livestream with hands-on STEM activities from our Expo organizations. This programming will run through the school year, so instead of one day, it will take place over 8 months!
Summer Academies
Check out our summer career academies where students explore in-demand careers, boost their college applications and develop long-lasting friendships. These cost effective summer programs supplement regular classwork by offering activities that help students develop leadership and business critical skills through hands-on activities, mentoring and shadowing opportunities.
